A Mother Discovers
Nine months of wonder fill her days,
Patiently caressing her belly,
Sideways glancing into a long mirror,
Heartbeats thud through a sonograms jelly.
Minutes quicken between contractions,
Short breaths, stirrups, and encouraging words,
A last push, a smile, a newborn’s reaction.
A name is given as pain and joy blur.
Another miracle of love is discovered.
