So what is love…
Ultimately, love is knowing you are loved.
It warms the heart during long winters,
when distance separates burning fires felt through touch,
while embracing hope in the faithfulness to one another.
Love is a sacred ember held in the deepest hallow of the heart,
glowing hues of warm amber alighting a flame of single hope.
Throughout the longsuffering, bearing all,
love remains grateful in all things.
Love, pursued by encouragement,
fails not its charitable mission,
whilst gratitude burns away the chaf of distraction,
that can possess a stronghold within the hopeful mind.
As time burdens the fast of being apart,
something unexpected happens,
boiling within the hope’s crucible,
as dross refines Truth from the impurities of life,
the humblest of pure gold settles deep,
as insecurities rise to float,
only to be scooped away by conviction.
Love must be tested to be made pure.
It must release from the ores of our deepest unknowns,
allowing faith and hope to remain,
in its kenotic and sacrificial sink,
to the bottom of the crucible.
There, in its lowly position,
it can truly offer itself,
there in its submerged humility,
the heart becomes one with divinity.
So this is love,
a mysterious paradox,
wrought through mercy,
that conquers all.
