All I Want Is All Of You

Call To Me
(Inspired by Anima Christi and Unknown Author)

imagesCAD1VLCL

Within all your memories,
I stand behind waiting,
Before all your dreams,
I beckon,
All around you,
My love surrounds,
Everything you need,
I exist within.

Give me your soul,
Let me sanctify you
Take, eat and drink,
Let me save you,
Wash with water from my side,
I will baptize you,
Feast upon my Passion,
I will strengthen you,
Pray dear servant,
I will hear you.
Enter within my wounds,
I will hide you,
From the wicked foe,
I will defend you,
Remember my saints,
Follow me,
In your hour of death,
Call to me!

Forever and ever, Amen.

Why The Egg Came First…

thEJ82NH2Z

The egg.  “The incredible, edi…” – sorry that was my 70’s indoctrination. I will somehow try to approximate the Trinity using this remarkable orb but not the way you’re probably expecting.  All analogies that attempt to convey the unknown seem to hit the ground running before they are limping to a cliff behind a pack of  disillusioned lemmings. However, what I want to convey is a simple truce for the ongoing domestic dispute between science and religion. Since analogies are particularly powerful among children, then those who not only still play but actually ‘believe all’ may find this as exciting as golden memories of sitting unrestrained in the back of a station wagon, a fistful of allowance, heading towards Toys R Us.

Okay, my sad analogy of this boundless, ever-giving, Triune Deity is relating it to an egg.  That same uncreated phenomena between the Father, Son, and Spirit offering fully of themselves to each other. That same incredibly diverse yet profoundly equal functions and measure finally decide it is high time to share their relational energy and allows their egg of wonder to crack. The Spirit, like the cleaving of atoms, explodes out with unprecedented force, sight, and sound.  The ever-creative energy shared within the Wonder Egg, fusing vapors and dust within the swirling centrifugation of planetary new formations begins to expand towards the infinite darkness. From the vulnerable crack, a Big Bang, shakes the billions of newborn galaxies within the universe. Life begins the very moment the Trinity becomes vulnerable.  Life actually flows from the wounded side of this extraordinary analogy.  Love allows the necessary violence to open itself to others at the sacrifice of remaining whole. Love when offered without condition is an unequaled force designed to disrupt the status quo and create life.

Soooo…yea…the egg definitely came first.

Within in every underlying precept of the biblical thread, is some sort of going out and returning back.  The return is never fruitless.  Like the word of God that never comes back void.  Eventually, we will return to the very “crack” the Spirit went out from.  I know by now you are hoping the lemmings along with my analogy has parachutes, so I’m grateful for your patience in not tapping out.

Ultimately I want to invite you to unpack some thoughts and see how well they apply to you:

  1. The diversity and love within this triune relationship.  How is this diversity reflected in your faith, your church, and your friends?
  2. Omnipotence, Ever-Powerful, and All-Knowing are well touted virtues y’All Mighty Creator.  Yet Creator is an ever-creative virtue that continuously proves its propensity through evolution and especially adaptation.  Nature always finds a way. As selfishness, arrogance, and entitled cultures, ignore the ramifications of our continuous assault upon our planet ambivalent that nature will find a way, what can we expect for our future?  What will happen with glacial calving then melting, coral bleaching, oil spills, floating trash islands, and over fishing?  Remember Nature will find a way.  Maybe a new order of water-borne species exquisitely adaptive to our flagrant disregard? Maybe an apex species? Maybe some awakening of a dormant algae or even a leviathan to go out from its slumber and return its sea to order by whatever violence necessary.
  3. Has your faith, expression of worship, seem frozen in language, ritual, tradition, inequality, and/or patriarchy?  Have you and I grown docile and content with being subservient to a power base, those Keepers of the Keys of knowledge?  How will Nature find a way to reflect the ever-creative Triune force and mutual life-giving love within and through this situation?
  4. Finally, let us end with love.  Without love we would have literally never existed. Has the love of a Messiah, which did not return void to the Father, drench us in gratitude.  Will we, even within Christendom, ever stop crucifying one another? Will we be brave enough to open our side, inviting others into our self love-realm? Has the love of G-d and love of neighbors been replaced by religion worshipping itself? Does Sunday seem so distant from the initial decision to share uncreated, original love with exclusionary fallacies of original sin? Has the Spirit convinced you that your soul is yearning for a divine relationship instead of human authority?

Ever

Ever Ancient,
Ever New,
Ever-patient,
Nature will break through.

Unrestrained,
And wild,
He will return,
To reconcile.

Stiff-necked slaves,
Keep two masters,
Keys build empires,
Wolves become pastors.

Vulnerable,
Life is bled,
Soul-drenched and weary,
His disciples are fed.

Reunion,
Draws nigh,
Inviting my soul,
Through Christ my guide.

Lord, awaken me from my slumber!

Vigil of Hope

For now, Saturday, the flickering candle is our timepiece.  Today we see and hear nothing but the silence intended for the prayerful. From 3 pm yesterday till now, the word ‘forsaken’ has gathered great momentum and space within our minds.  We are left bracing ourselves unaware tomorrow trades joy for our ashes.  Emmanuel!

Son of Man

Crowned and striped,
For all to see,
Son of God,
Nailed to a tree,
Sweet Jesus have mercy on me.

A new wine,
Pours from His wounds,
Giving His all,
Embracing doom,
His last exhale becomes perfume.

He’s Taken down,
His body wrapped,
Our God is dead,
Becomes a fact.
Sweet Jesus dies for what I lack.

Wait! Something new,
A barren tomb,
He has risen!
Returning soon,
Seen as Conqueror or Bridegroom.

Friend and brother,
Prophet, Priest, and King,
Mediator,
Heir of all things,
Emmanuel!
Deliverer,
The Word of God,
The Good Shepherd.
Light of the World,
The Prince of Peace,
Help me forgive,
Those I love the least.
Sweet Jesus, have mercy on me!

Song for a brave little man

jack fineske

Jackie boy Blue
In the loving and living legacy of
Jackson Fineske

Lil’ Jackie boy Blue
Where did you go,
You’re so far away
But I still feel ya too
Lil’ Jackie boy Blue

Blue jays visits my window,
Each morn’in at nine,
He pecks the seeds,
As He looks in my eyes,
I smile and wonder,
When I last sat by your side,
Praying for miracles,
Yet whisp’ring goodbye,
Whisp’ring goodbye.

We heard you talking to Mary,
Our Mother of God,
She was holding you then,
As she’s holding you now,
Your Mama’s holdin you now.

Lil’ Jackie boy Blue,
Where did you go,
You’re so far away,
But I still feel ya too,
Lil’ Jackie boy Blue.

New drugs, procedures, cards, and toys,
Offering your life,
And hope for the next girl or boy,
Known as “Boss”- one tough little man!
Nurses named Mary,
God was watchin and He had plan,
God always has a plan…

Lil’ Jackie boy Blue,
Where did you go,
You’re so far away,
But I still feel ya too,
Lil’ Jackie boy Blue.

All through your pain,
You’d quietly smile,
You said, “Trust in Jesus
And never once complained,
You never once complained.

Lil’ Jackie boy Blue,
Where did you go,
You’re so far away,
But I still feel ya too-
Lil’ Jackie boy Blue.

I Stand At the Door…Let Me In

aammf5lLet them in,
And love them anyway.
Walk their mile of oppression,
To love them endlessly,
Become family,
A new community.
Let them in.

Let them in,
Free love freely given,
Love is a flame meant to shine,
Flickering bravely,
Courageously,
And fearlessly.
Let them in.

Let them in,
For more is expected,
To feed and clothe the naked,
Unconditionally,
Cheerfully,
With empathy.
Let them in.

Meet them at the border and find ME,
Resist, demand, and persevere to expose ME,
Fight for My Life and I will yours,
I am here waiting….
Let Me in.

Will You Spare Some Time For Me?

Who I Am

sunrise

What else can I do,
To prove to you,
I am who I said I am?

What more could you ask,
From Me, for you,
Don’t you see My feet and hands?

Please come back to Me,
Listen to Me;
Your heart will understand.

Love is the reason,
Love sets you free,
Love is all that I command.

Mercy never fails,
To see your best,
Unveiling hope is My plan.

Rest in Me awhile,
And soon you’ll see,
The Way, Life, Truth – is Who I AM.

When Children Sing – God Smiles!

ths05xtqas

Song of Hope

Tides of the fashionably overdressed,
Slowly crowd a church in warm wools and hats,
Envious glances darting east to west,
Fluffy scarves dangle among copycats,
Await words from their shepherd theocrat.

Housing the comfortable from the cold,
Outside snow swirls like tiny acrobats,
Tumbling through an old jacket full of holes,
Covering a pregnant, fourteen-year-old.

Snow crunching underfoot to muffled sounds,
Determined to reach stained-glass glowing gold,
Singing loudens as she heads into town.

Struggling to open the heavy, church door,
An ear-piercing squeak turn all eyes around,
Every seat taken she sits on the floor,
In front of the altar – the crowd spellbound.

A priest left speechless, singing paralyzed,
Surreal awaits reality be found,
Holding her belly, she cannot disguise,
Accepting her place without looking ‘round.
God watches – wond’ring if grace will abound.

A child walks up and sits down by her side,
Smiling she’s blessed by the friend she’s now found,
Echoes of small shoes soon joyfully arrive.

Holding her hand, children gather around,
Singing “Silent Night” with the new joy they had found.
